Your appointment

What happens

  1. Check in

Third floor, 301-141 Victoria Street. A Brazilian is booked as 45 minutes.

  2. Prepare

The area is cleaned and prepared.

  3. Wax or sugar

Wax is applied and lifted away with the hair; sugar paste is worked by hand and flicked off. Same price either way.

  4. Finish

Stray hairs are tidied, and you can book your next one.

Before

Before your first Brazilian

  • Let the hair grow: about two to three weeks after shaving, roughly the length of a grain of rice.
  • Exfoliate gently a day or two before, not on the day.
  • Keep the area out of the sun and away from tanning before, and say if you use retinoid creams or acne medication, or have had a peel on the area.
  • Come with clean, dry skin: no lotion or oil on the area.
  • If you can, avoid the days just before your period, when skin can be more sensitive.

General guidance. At your appointment you are told what applies to you.

After

After your Brazilian

  • For a day, skip hot baths, saunas, hard workouts, pools and the sun on the area.
  • Wear loose, clean clothing over the area.
  • From a couple of days after, exfoliate gently to keep the regrowth smooth.
  • Book your next visit for when the hair has grown back; many people come every 3 to 6 weeks.

General guidance. At your appointment you are told what applies to you.

First Brazilian questions

Does a Brazilian wax hurt the first time?
How it feels varies from person to person, and the first time is usually the one people worry about most. You can choose wax or sugar; some people find one gentler than the other.
How long does a Brazilian wax last?
The hair grows back over a few weeks; many people rebook every 3 to 6 weeks.
How often should you get a Brazilian wax?
Every 3 to 6 weeks for most people, once the hair has grown back enough to take.
Brazilian vs bikini wax: what is the difference?
A bikini wax takes the hair at the edges; a Brazilian is the whole area. Between the two is the French bikini ($40).
Wax or sugar for a first Brazilian?
Either, at the same price. See sugaring vs waxing.
How long should my hair be?
About two to three weeks of growth after shaving: roughly the length of a grain of rice.
